Illustrator and Science Communicator

Jack Cowley is a Cornwall-based infographic designer and illustrator specialising in marine science communication. Drawing on a background in marine biology and wildlife guiding, he works with institutions, universities, NGOs, and researchers to translate complex scientific ideas into visuals that are both rigorous and engaging.

Jack works across two distinct visual styles: semi-realistic and painterly for science infographics, and bold and graphic for his broader illustration and design work. In both, the aim is the same — to communicate with clarity, precision, and a deep respect for the subject matter.

His work is driven by a genuine passion for the natural world, particularly the themes of symbiosis, interconnectedness, and the complexity of evolution. He is based in an artist's village on a nature reserve in an abandoned quarry — an environment that reflects both his connection to the natural world and his commitment to creative community.

Alongside his design practice, Jack serves as Creative Director of 99p Films, a social cinema C.I.C. dedicated to bringing people together through documentary cinema.
